afghan voices of hope

Afghan Voices of Hope is an ongoing oral history project that began in August 2021, when founder Gaisu Yari—suddenly displaced by the Taliban’s takeover—started documenting the personal stories of Afghans forced into exile to preserve their experiences and foster empathy and understanding.

Since its inception, the project has collected and cataloged hundreds of testimonies and expanded into traveling exhibitions and public programs in cities such as Paris and Washington, D.C., with installations acquired by institutions like France’s National Museum of the History of Immigration and presentations reaching international audiences through museum exhibitions, workshops, academic panels, and cultural events, helping deepen public awareness of displacement and refugee resilience.  Learn more.
