Preparations of “Lighting Shadows”

Over the last couple of months, we have been deeply immersed in the preparation of “Lighting Shadows - Women of Afghanistan”. This time has been filled with listening, learning, and carefully shaping an exhibition that centers the voices of women living in Afghanistan today. Every step of the process has reminded us how important it is to create space for stories that are often unheard.

Preparing this exhibition has meant working closely with stories, images, and ideas that carry both pain and strength. It hasn’t been rushed. Instead, it has been thoughtful and intentional, making sure each element reflects the reality, resilience, and courage of Afghan women. Behind the scenes, there have been many conversations, revisions, and moments of reflection as we asked ourselves how to present these voices with honesty and respect.

“Lighting Shadows – Women of Afghanistan” will launch at the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, Norway, on February 14, 2026. As we move closer to the opening, we carry a deep sense of responsibility and gratitude — responsibility to the women whose stories are being shared, and gratitude for the opportunity to help bring their voices into the light.
